About the course

This course has been designed to equip operational drill site staff (drillers and drill rig assistants) with the knowledge and skills essential to manage day-to-day drill site hazards.

The course is presented in English, thus it is essential that delegates have at least a basic level of spoken and written English to fully benefit from the course.

This is a practical course and is designed to be run on site. The course requires a minimum of 5 participants and maximum of 15.

This course is aimed specifically at drillers, drill rig assistants and foremen.

  • The essential role of the driller in a drilling operation
  • The drillers' and drill rig assistant's duties in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act
  • Principles of risk assessment
  • Drill site hazard identification
